A new Shelly

WOW. I just finished up knitting the slippers (pictures forthcoming) and I stopped to check my email and found some comments from Shelly. Those who have been here for awhile know that I have a sister-in-law Michelle (aka Miguelita, aka Shelly). She is starting up another blog (her last one was a disaster, we will see how the new one goes) so I thought it was her. However, I started to think something was amiss since the comments were nice but perhaps she was making up for her 'readers strike' and just for being an overall pain in my arse. So I clicked the profile and lo and behold it is a new Shelly. A new super sweet, she thinks I am funny Shelly. A new she can even create a blog with real posts on it Shelly. And a Shelly who actually put up a post of finding my blog while blopping (her word but I am stealing it) and how funny I am (gotta love that Shelly). So welcome Shelly. You say you found me through the Catholic mom blogroll. I need to warn you straight off that I am not the usual find on there. I don't actually often post about my faith, and I sometimes say crude things. But I am Catholic and I am a mom so I suppose I qualify. As for the 'what's in a name' name, I had to think of something cuz hubby had the grand idea to change the name daily. I was good for awhile but have been slacking lately since he doesn't actually contribute ideas for the name. Oh and I have a problem leaving comments on peoples blogs if it can't be done anonymously--I can't sign in cuz of a stupid email mix up unless I go to my own blog first so I usually just don't bother. And finally, just cuz you mentioned it, we are HUGE Ohio State fans (but sadly can't call ourselves alumni). Thanks again for stopping by, now that I am signed in, I must leave a comment on yours cuz Charlie is VERY cute.

Biggest Loser is on tonight (and has just finished recording so I can now go watch commercial free while I knit do lunges) so in that spirit here is another, all original 'you might be overweight' joke:
If you saw that the South Beach diet allows you to eat almonds so you ran to the grocery store and bought Rocky Road ice cream....you might be overweight.

Interesting. Glad you found a new and improved Shelly to post kind little comments to you. Let's see how long that lasts! She'll learn. She'll see the light. She'll feel the pain of reruns--day after day after day! It's just a matter of time.

Glad to see you're supporting me in my new posting venture. With support like yours...

Hey, I found you thru shelly too. :-)
I'm still stuck on how you got your 2 yo BOY partially potty trained already. I have the same setup as you (girl, girl, boy girl) and am due with a question mark in March. It would be awesome not to have 3 in diapers but I just don't know how to manage that! My girls weren't even out of diapers til 3. Any tips?

Sarah (great name by the way, one of those 3 girls on the side bar has the same name) for potty training my dear sweet s-i-l (the old shelly) had a friend who found a book 'toilet training in less than a day'. hmmm, i am pretty sure that is the title, cant seem to find it on my shelf to verify. a quick basic premise is once you are potty training they are only in regular underwear (i use pull ups for naps and when we go anywhere-night night undies and bye bye undies) and NEVER again go back to diapers. it isnt easy or fun but the girls were trained in about a 1.5 days. My boy is taking longer though has been better this week. My sis-in-law and her friend both have boys who did it in about a 1.5 days as well so I dont think its due to gender. I think my boy just isnt very bright :)he took longer to walk, longer to sleep through the night, longer to get teeth...generally longer to get a brain and based on some of the things he does i am still not sure he has one.
to verify the book there was a post 'oh the thinks that i thought' back in oct '07 that would have referenced it.

Oh! btw...My first name is Michelle too. I'll get those *looks* from people at the bank cause my license says Michelle and my checks say Shelly. "Who's Michelle?" 'that's me' "well, then...who's Shelly" - then i have to go through the whole "Shelly is short for Michelle" thing. Some get attitudes..."Well, *I've* never heard of that"!! The nerve!

What else would shelly be a nickname for besides Michelle? Seashell? LOL.
Thanks for the tip Regina. I will have to check out that book. He is actually pretty interested as he keeps changing out of his diaper (don't you love that stage) into my girls' underwear (you can imagine they love that). He even peed in the potty seat on his own initiative 2x this week. We shall try it!!
Laughing about your comments on your son. They do take longer to process, don't they? My husband has been saying "there's a distinct lack of brain activity" about him since the kid was born. LOL.
By the way I use cloth pocket diapers... do you think if I tried it without an insert it would do the same trick as underwear? My entire apt. is carpeted, I shudder to think...
