Grannie Panties

Ok, ok so not actually panties-more like grannie hatties. I was originally making this hat for my sister but, once complete, Tug decided it looks like it should be for an old lady. He says knitting with holes in it (aka mostly lace) makes him think of grandmas. Well, once he said that I decided I would indeed not give it to my sister (sorry nee) but I am curious as to your general opinion...is lace just for oldies?

{it looks kinda weird and high but that is just because it is too big for her}

Yo yo yo yo baby pops...she is down with the lace!

hat pattern here

12 people are laughing with me:

I don't think that it is the "lace" pattern that makes it so granny-ish. I think that it is the combination of lace and cream/super neutral. If you tried that hat in a bright color or a multi-color or one of those yarns that have all the fringy stuff on it... then perhaps it would look "younger." What do ya think of THAT!?

I think it is beautiful. You should open a shop on Etsy.

It is beautiful and very well done too. I agree with elm though and that the color choice makes it look kind of old lady or Irish fisherman.

oh, I must also comment that the title of your post really jumped out on my google reader, lol. It really made me wonder what the heck you were up to now.

I'm think elm is on to something.

I think the hat is beautiful, and I'm so very impressed w/ your skills!!

I didn't think it looked granny-ish, more small child. Still looks great on L. love

Sorry, Tug is right, now if you made it in Scarlet and Gray, you could give it to a happen'n Grama :)

How about them Bucks?

I like it too, and my 13 yo says it's for old ladies. What does that say about me? Is 44 old?

I agree that a different color could liven it up.

I am in agreement with most here. I think in a different color it would be great.

I like it! I'm trying to picture my own knit hat on an 80 year old woman and I think it'd work for either of us. Nice work!

I think that it is something about men. I used to have a sweater with holes in it (similar to the hat) and my husband really did not like it. He made me give it away.
Personally, I like the hat.

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOUR READERS
Would you want Regina to teach a homeschooling knitting class?

I should have said, "If Regina, lived near you, would you want her to teach a knitting class?"
