First I went to try and find some cute chunky blue or black yarn~no luck. Instead I went with 2 strands of different colors of blue then provisionally cast-on 100 stitches, picked a cable and went to town knitting flat. Once the cable was complete, I grafted the top sides together to make the hood (top picture is the flat piece folded over then ~bottom pic~ kitchener stitching the two pieces to become one which is the top of the hood)

I then took out the provisional cast-on (the brown yarn),

picked up those stitches and started knitting down. I continued until I felt the back (part that will lay on the neck) would be long enough, cast off those stitches and continued the scarf with the cable.

I am almost done, completed pics coming soon!!
I can't wait to see the finished product, and feel free to add me to the list of recipients! :) They sound darling!
ReplyDeleteWant a REAL challenge? Create a "scat" for me with a brim (to keep the sun outta my eyes) and a hole in the back for my ponytail while I'm running. THAT would be JUST the thing I need!
ReplyDeletehow 'bout one with a beer holder on top - that's a challenge!
ReplyDelete;)
You are amazing. I don't understand half of what you said and I hate kitchener, whoever he was.
ReplyDeleteMinnie is lovely... and most appreciated! :) Can't wait for that beautiful creation.
ReplyDeleteI am almost finished with a "hoodie" for Peach but I am making it so that (hopefully ) I will knit in a buttonhole and add a button, and it will button under her chin like a jacket (without the jacket). I had a hard time finding a pattern, too, and am winging it. I ripped it out three times.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed with your cable knitting -- I can't even imagine.
scat? Isn't that animal poop??? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome Regina!
