WoW Week who cares

Ok Ok, so it is week 9.  Good job to those of you who are staying strong. I was weak this past week. Well not the whole week, just since Sunday. I don't get how I can justify in my head that I need to lose weight, and that justification is happening as I stuff french fries in my pie hole. I actually started strong with exercise then started saying "Come on, it's your birthday. Come on, just one day." Problem was that was on Sunday, my birthday wasn't until Monday. So on Monday I started the day with the idea of getting back on track then said "Come on, today is your birthday. You can cheat today. Yesterday wasn't your birthday. Yesterday doesn't count." Honestly, I am surprised I didn't gain more but I am back on track today. Today is a new day. I am turning over a new leaf. Today I start anew.

This week: + 1.3

Jessica: - 0.5
Renee: ± 0

Humility

I thought I was getting pretty cool cuz I can read blogs while knitting. I have eaten a slice of humble pie. Seriously, knitting while walking and carrying some big ass basket on your back!

Show off.

Though her face doesn't really look as though she is trying to gloat. Looks more like "What do you mean you want me to stop walking to take my picture while I knit? Can't you see this big ass basket I am carrying, while walking, while knitting?!"

And check her out! I thought Boo and Sugar were just too young to have the patience for the craft. Clearly this sweet pea is younger than them. Look at the size of that needle, it is almost as big as her.

Images from Shetland Museum. I don't think I am supposed to reprint them but what are they gonna do, sue me? Have at it, I ain't got nothing.  Click through to see more amazing pictures of Shetland knitters

Woo Hoo

4 of the girls on our soccer team were on the same team last year and they didn't win a single game. Continue on to this season where we have lost our first 3. BUT, miracle of miracles, we won yesterday 2-1. AND we remembered to take our camera! (complete sentences not needed)

Here is my newest project. Tug thought it would not fit, how he was wrong! Unfortunately I have run out of yarn. I think I will order just one more skein and make it a shirt instead of a dress. I don't like the colorway much but it was from the stash.

Once I get more yarn and add buttons (ie: FINISH it) I will post again.

What I am wondering is who taught him such things? It certainly was NOT me!!

WoW 8

Seriously, week 8? Depressing.
Isn't it annoying when your scale won't cooperate? Aside from my little chew-n-spit cheat bites of Boo's birthday cake I have been good. This past week I have gone to different friends' homes and taken my own salad while avoiding the cakes and ice creams offered—yet the scale is a biotch. On different days during the week I have been up to 2 pounds less than I am today but I will go ahead and post today's weight since it happened, well, today. I guess I am going to have to start exercising ::gasp:: I KNOW!

This week: - 0.6

Renee:
Miguelita: ±0
Michelle: - 1, getting back after it!
Marci: - 0.5 Good job.
Tug: - 0.5
Jessica: +1 Not too bad, considering.
Amy: ± 0. Good job mama!
Kimberly: -1.5. Such a motivator!
Laura: ±0 but still training for that half-marathon.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!
We miss you and love you and hope you have a great day.

Sometimes you feel like a nut

You Are a Cashew

You are laid back, friendly, and easy going.

Compared to most people, you have a very mild temperament.

You blend in well. You're often the last person to get noticed.

But whenever you're gone, people seem to notice right away!

And she's turning three.

Happy b-day Chiquita!
Though I didn't bake,
We are on our way
To eat your ladybug cake!

Such a tease

The Big 10 Network showed today's Scarlet & Gray game...fun, but what a little tease. Only 5 more months until the season starts :(

Tug took Boo out on Thursday for her birthday, just her and him. She was very proud. I am not sure of all that went on but I think they went golfing (9 holes though they only made it through 6 and according to him she basically ran around and rolled down hills), went to lunch, went to the grocery store where he bought all the kids baseball gloves (they have been thoroughly enjoying those), then to pick out her ice cream cake. Once they got home we had to quickly get ready for soccer and after practice we went to dinner. She chose a local Mexican joint and proudly told the waiter "Mi cumpleaƱos" (she couldn't remember the whole phrase) so was rewarded with a big sombrero, fried ice cream and singing of Las MaƱanitas. Then it was back home to eat some cake* and open her present from Grandma.
Yesterday we were lucky enough to have some friends meet us at mass then we went to a local coffee shop and hung out for a bit with Father and some other parishioners. After, we continued on to Cold Stone for ice cream**. That was my idea of a birthday party!  Here are some cute pics from there:

FOUR FAMILIES...NINETEEN KIDS
Today we had another soccer game, and we once again forgot the camera.  We also had team pictures which was my main reason for not wanting to be coach. During pictures, it started snowing! Anyhoo the streak continues—last weekend we lost 4-3 (OH SO CLOSE) and this weekend we lost a whole lot to 1 (at least we scored?).
Have a good weekend :)

*I succumbed, sort of. I have had about 7 bites of the cake over the past 3 days BUT I chewed then spit it out. Gross I know but I figure I can get the taste, with negligible carbs since I am not actually swallowing it. No, I don't have an eating disorder. Actually I do, I eat TOO much!
**I did NOT succumb at all at Cold Stone. Not even one little nibble!

Thanks for the pics Jess.

Six, seriously?

Exactly 6 years ago today this sweet lil'thing joined our family. Though your labor was by far the longest, it wasn't the hardest...hey, I even got to take a nap during it. My how you have made the past 6 years interesting, and I pray you will continue to do the same for many more to come.

How do I love thee? Let me count thy ways:
1. Though you weren't my first, you were the first to make Sugar a big sister.

2. You have my cheeks.

3. You are a generous soul, always trying to save your money to give to the donut pot at church.

4. I love your adventurous spirit.

5. You can carry a mean tune, and carry on the family tradition of memorizing lyrics..."You get the best of both worlds"

6. You are my biggest cuddler. If I want a hug or kiss I can count on you to give one (or lots).

And here is the big SIX-year-old today. Happy birthday Regan!
We love you!

WoW 7

Well 1 week of Atkins down...going ok so far. I cheated one night-we went to a local charity thing then back to a friends house. While at the friends house I had to try some homemade salsa so I had a small edge of a tortilla chip. At that auction I bought lots of bad Harry & David things and had maybe 4 chocolate and toffee covered pistachios (I might add they were soooo worth it). Aside from that night it has been going well. Since starting Atkins last Monday I have lost over 6 pounds. I think drinking the diet sodas that I have has had an effect so I am not going to have any this week (from what I remember of a friend doing this years ago, she bought special sodas though I don't know which ones or why and I don't feel like actually reading the book to learn).
I still haven't started exercising. I might try and start walking, at a slow pace, on the treadmill this week.
I hope you all had a good week, and a great one to come.  Remember, gluttony is a sin :)

This week: -3.2
From the lowest I have been while doing WoW it is only a 2.2 weight loss BUT from here on out it'll all just be weight lost!

Miguelita: +2.5. An honest soul :)
Michelle: 0
Marci: -.5. good start
Tug: +1
Jessica: -.5. Still losing.
Amy: +2..not bad mama
Renee: -.5. Another loss
Bonnie:
Kimberly: -3. A walking advertisement for sparkpeople (see comments). Super good job!
Laura: 0

I haven't been around much today, hence no update. First there was school, then we went to Jessica's for a cute food craft, then soccer practice and now I have to go cut the boy's hair. If you want to see the cute food craft, clicky-clicky.

Whatever

Last night we went to an auction at St. Vincent de Paul (will post about that later) which made for a late night for the kids (thanks again Amy for babysitting) so we decided to go to our local church instead of where we normally attend. Neither Tug nor I like this church but it is close (where we normally go is 45 minutes away) so on days when we are tired or the girls don't have CCD we stay local.  Now, they have an 8 o'clock and an 11 0'clock service. The 8 doesn't work so well if our intent is to sleep in but we don't like hanging out until the 11 so we often go to the 9:30 Spanish mass.  We don't like this service either, especially when the celebrant has the choir lady say the homily...he seems to be able to get through the mass fine with his choppy Spanish but won't do the homily (is that even licit?)

Moving on, at the Spanish mass a lot of people (adults) will go up to the priest, one hand in front of their chest, simply to receive a blessing. I am still not sure how I feel about this—on the one hand it is good that they aren't just receiving so they seem to be taking the importance of the Eucharist to heart, on the other move it along people... Well, the girls like to go up when we do but they can't receive yet so they cross their arms, bow in front of the host, then move to the side. I think Padre got confused (since the others there don't move to the side, they want the blessing) so when it was my turn to receive he crossed my forehead and started giving me a blessing in Spanish (I was holding SP so maybe he thought I was crossing myself) so I say
"No, I am receiving..."
P: leans closer to me smiling "Huh?"
"I am receiving communion."
P: "Oh *snicker* The Body of Christ"
I take the Eucharist then start to move just as he starts to lift his hand to bless SP...I keep going.
Tug was behind me (and later told me that) the Priest laughed a little and said (obviously loud enough for Tug to hear him)
P: "Whatever" then proceeded to give Tug communion.

Oh, did I mention he is a Monsignor? Whatever indeed!

My lyrics are bottomless

WoW Week 6

Alright, alright, alright (know the movie?)

So week 6 was decent. I wasn't super good at the start of it but since Monday I have been trying to 'hit it hard'. I am still not exercising and just focusing on my eating. Sugar makes her First Communion next month which mean I will have to be in at least one picture which mean I am in lose-as-much-weight-as-possible mode (what? you act as if I knew this was coming and should have planned accordingly, psha). I have decided the best solution for that is Atkins—not the healthiest solution but the best for rapid weight loss. I am taking it one week at a time...ideally I will stick with phase1 until the First Communion (May 17), realistically I don't know if that is attainable. So far so good though.

This week: -7.4 though I am still not back down to where I was on previous weighins so for WoW it is basically 0. I should be there next week though. And remember this week's numbers are slightly inflated due to how I ate the week prior to the weigh-in, chugging Dr. Pepper the night before and weighing before you go pee in the morning really helps (I was trying to gain weight)!

Tug: -4 (hmmm, I didn't ask him if he wanted me to post his but since it was a loss I bet he is fine with it)
Laura: (via email) -3. She is updating on a private blog but for those who don't know her she is that crazy mama that had her SIXTH child like 4 weeks ago AND is already training for a half-marathon. Crazy indeed.
Amy: I don't know if you are still checking in (to keep the prego weight at a minimum) so I thought I would add a spot for you in case, or whoever is taking the spot, or whatever....
Jessica: -1.5 even a pinched nerve can't stop her!
Michelle: -2 as per usual
Miguelita: -2, "a Christmas miracle"
Jamie:
Kimberly: down yet another pound!
Renee: -1
Bonnie:
Eileen: -5.5 WOOHOO, see comments for more. Good start!

Crazy Urges Meme

Sweet lil'Laura tagged me for this one. She has some pretty witty responses, I ain't got nothin'.

Let's see, think, think, think. Here goes:

1. The craziest urge I have is to compete in a triathlon. Why you ask? Oh I don't know, torture seems fun. Seeing as how I keep getting pregnant it'll probably never happen. Oh yeah, and the fact that I don't get my arse off the couch might have something to do with it too.

2.  I would like to own some kind of quaint something (I've put a lot of thought into it). Maybe a sweet little coffee shop, or an Irish pub, or a yarn store. Something ultra chic and way cooler than me.

3. I have a strong urge to never get pregnant again (go ahead Catholics, bash away, I can take it).

4. I wanna be a forensic detective.

5. I wanna be in the forbidden area of the Mormon church during a wedding (I think the whole church is forbidden during ceremonies to non-mormons or those who haven't reached a certain mormon level). Alright, I don't actually want to do it, but why the secrecy? Are you beheading chickens or something?

6. Recently I have had the urge to stop blogging.

7. I am realizing I am a woman with few dreams and desires...perhaps that is why I feel so empty inside.

8. And my current, most overwhelming urge is to go take a poop. jus teezin (as Ham would say). I am off to the soccer fields. Oh and for those who asked, we lost our first game. I think the score was a bazillion to zero—thanks for bringing it up!

Six is a lucky number

Oh yeah, number 6 is on the way for this lil'lady. Based on what happened last time, I am sure prayers would be appreciated!

Congrats Amy—lucky dog, you get to be on a WoW hiatus!!

Baby Leash

What do you do when your 8 month old takes her army crawling to a new level? A level that leads from the living room to the hall? A level that returns her to the living room only to later find her in her older sister's, choke-hazard full room? Perhaps you get out your baby book and write down just how amazing the little tike is getting around. Or maybe you snap tons of pictures to put in her scrapbook! Well I send Daddy out ASAP to get something to keep her contained.

Baby books and scrapbooks are SO overrated :)

'Donate' to autism

While watching the race today I learned that Chevrolet is donating money to Autism Speaks during the month of April—all you have to do is click here then click play.  I don't know the specifics (ie: how much per video they will donate, cap on donations, etc) but the general details are: you watch a short video about the new Chevrolet Malibu then Chevy will make the donation—that's it, no registration, as a matter of fact you don't enter anything. Literally, click play and you're done!

Just cuz I needed something to post...

I think never having been in a fight, trampled, and having no swarm experience worked against me.

UFO

No, not the alien kind, the unfinished object kind...I don't have much to write about (other than today is our first soccer game, since we didn't win a single game last year I suppose I should be happy that we can't get any worse) so I thought I would show you what I am working on. The pattern calls for 77 1/2 inches, only 70 more to go. Hopefully I will be done by Christmas!

Pattern: Chevron Scarf Last-Minute Knitted Gifts
Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill, Cabin Fever (the one with brown in it)

Movie Meme

As per Jessica's request, here are 5 critically acclaimed movies that I do not like.

1. The rules do not say that you have to have seen the movie so I will first pick Brokeback Mountain.  I wish I knew how to quit you...

2. Again with the haven't seen it route Lord of the Rings (all of them). I actually have tried watching them but always fall asleep.

3. I too thought Napoleon Dynamite sucked. In high school Dazed and Confused was a popular movie that my friends thought was great. I watched it one night and thought it totally dumb. I watched another time with the dazed enhancement and thought it hilarious. I am guessing Napoleon is much the same but since I am no longer an enhancer (and haven't been since high school) I don't think I will ever find it funny.

4. So I might get reamed on this one but I don't like It's a Wonderful Life. Perhaps I enjoyed it the first time but come on, EVERY year, all Christmas season...it's played. I am not the type who can watch movies over and over and over again. Once is enough—twice if I really liked it.

5. And finally I would have to say The Exorcist. Heeby jeebies!! I literally just shuttered. To make things worse one of my three girls is named Regan...guess what the possessed little girl's name is. Why did people tell me this AFTER we had named her? It is also the name of King Lear's bitchy daughter, I did know this one though (let the record show that Tug has never liked the name).

Funnies

Turns out Oprah reads my blog...look who is going to be on her show. That's the pregnant 'husband'. I don't understand what is SO amazing about a woman getting pregnant. Idiots!

Did you watch American Idol last night? When Dolly was singing
Cuz I've got all I need
I've got Jesus...
Tug yelled out/sang "and PLASTIC SURGERY"
Oh my was it funny. He then said "I should be a song writer." We laughed for quite awhile.

I don't recommend watching the whole clip {yawn}, the verse is about 52 seconds in.

WoW Week 5

...but sort of week 1, again.

So, here is the deal—Tug has decided to get in on the action so he and I are now in weight loss competition but the full details have not been worked out. Last week he informed me of his plan so I spent all last week trying to gain back some weight...I didn't want to give him the unfair advantage of starting from scratch whereas I had already lost some (what if he decides the winner is the first to lose x amount instead of highest percentage by a certain date). So this week I have been eating like crazy, eating very crappy and been in a Dr. Pepper induced coma (did I even have any water???). Next week I will check back in where I promise there to be a negative! If he lets me, I will also keep you informed of his weight loss.

This week: mulligan

Week goals:
1. Fast today (Fast Track Detox)
2. FF Phase 1 rest of week

Woof-woof

So, the quiz itself wasn't that cool but I thought the results were since this is my favorite dog breed.
I don't remember the blog to h/t...through multiple links I found it, if it was you please forgive me :)
What dog breed are you? I'm a Labrador Retriever! Find out at Dogster.com

Just foolin' around

As April Fool's jokes the girls have been hiding anything and everything from me. I overheard Boo say, sadly, "No one has played a joke on me today" so when my mom called I thought I would let her be the one to fool Boo.  Boo's birthday is coming soon and she has been asking grandma for another American Girl doll so I told my mom to say that she wasn't going to be able to get one. Boo is on the phone listening to my mom when I see her eyes start to water. Then she has a full-fledged meltdown so my mom says "April Fool's". It took awhile for it to sink in so I got back on the phone with my mom who says she told Boo that "All the American Girl dolls are dead. They no longer make any of them." My mom felt very bad that Boo started crying and apparently started crying herself. She also got Sugar on the phone (her own idea this time) to say she wouldn't be able to make it to her First Communion—cue the tears again. I thought both were funny.

On a non-joking note, SP's first tooth finally came through (on Sunday 3/30). You can't really see it in the picture but it is her bottom right...
